New Delhi – The mortal remains of Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were cremated with full military honours at Brar Square crematorium. They were accorded a 17-gun salute. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, other ministers, so also Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravne, Naval Chief Hari Kumar, Chief of Air Staff VR Choudhari and other senior current – former Army Personnel were present at the time of cremation. Bipin Rawat’s daughters, Kritika and Tarini performed the last rites.

The funeral procession of the Rawat couple commenced from their residence Shankar Vihar. It was a 12 km procession. A large number of people had gathered on the road to pay their homage. Many showered flowers on the mortal remains of the couple. People raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Many citizens remained with the funeral procession till the end. Many held the national flag in their hands.
Spontaneous shraddhanjali was given to General Rawat and other personnel by citizens from all over the country

In the last 2 days, it was witnessed that along with grief, there was honour in the minds of Indians for this tragic mishap. At many places, spontaneous shraddhanjali was organised by citizens. Video showing citizens standing on both the sides of the road showering flowers on all the mortal remains while they were being carried away in an ambulance, was published all over the country.
