New Delhi – Delhi High Court asked the Central government to explain, “Why a booster dose is not permitted in India; whereas, it is being administered in the USA and other western countries.” The Court directed the Government to submit the timeline of the rollout of the booster dose if a booster dose was essential. The High Court also asked Central Government to direct to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to submit an affidavit in the Court.
The #Delhi High Court has directed the Centre to clarify its stand on administering a booster dose to those who are fully vaccinated against #COVID19, saying it does not want a second-wave-like situation on account of being conservative.https://t.co/SGbye9HAuh

High Court observed, “The Director of AIIMS, Dr Randeep Guleria said that booster dose was not required; on the other hand, western countries are not only administering booster doses but also encouraging it. So we need to take the opinion of experts. We should not be in a situation similar to that of the second Covid wave.” High Court also expressed concern that if correct measures have not been taken, all the efforts taken so far will go in vain.
