Earlier the Central Government was ordered to pay Rs. 4 lakh to the Covid-19 victims as compensation. However, the Central Government had expressed disability to do so saying that that would exhaust the disaster relief funds.
The Supreme Court directed states and Union territories to roll out within a week the central scheme of ₹50,000 ex gratia compensation for families of those whose deaths have been certified as #Covid19 fatalities.
