Anti-India billionaire George Soros to receive America’s highest civilian award

Biden Administration’s decision

Washington (USA) – US President Joe Biden will honour 19 individuals with the prestigious ‘Presidential Medal of Freedom’ at the White House. This is the highest civilian award in the United States. Among the recipients is the staunch anti-India billionaire George Soros. In addition to Soros, former US Secretary of State and 2016 presidential contender Hillary Clinton, as well as the world-famous footballer Lionel Messi, are also included.

White House statement on Soros’ award

The White House clarified that George Soros is being honoured for his significant work supporting global organisations that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.

Who is George Soros ?

Soros is an American billionaire and a communist thinker. He has faced repeated allegations of conspiring with opposition parties to destabilise the Indian Government. The 94-year-old Soros is accused of implementing strategies to influence the politics and society of many countries worldwide. His organisation, the ‘Open Society Foundations’, first entered India in 1999. In a statement to the Munich Security Conference in August 2023, Soros said that India is a democratic country, but Prime Minister Modi is not democratic. Soros has also criticised Prime Minister Modi on issues like the Citizenship Amendment Act and the revocation of Article 370.

Who receives the ‘Presidential Medal of Freedom’ ?

This prestigious award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to America’s prosperity, values, global peace, or social and public sectors. According to the White House, the award is given to those who have made exceptional contributions to their country and the world. (‘Exceptional contributions to America’ in this context means working behind the scenes to conspire to challenge countries that could pose a future threat to the US in multiple ways – Editor).

Editorial Perspectives

  • George Soros is anti-India and thereby, anti-Hindu. He has spent hundreds of crores of rupees to activate an anti-India ‘ecosystem’ to destabilise the country. The US Government’s decision to award him the highest honour exposes America’s open hostility towards India.
  • Will the Indian Government show the courage to ask why America is honouring such an anti-India billionaire ?
