Bangladesh appeals to UN to resolve maritime demarcation row with India

Editorial comment

  • Now even little Bangladesh dares to oppose India. From this, it is quite clear, how essential it is for India to have an aggressive foreign policy.

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – On the background of the row with India concerning maritime demarcation in Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh has filed 2 challenging petitions in the UN. India has the right to the Bay of Bengal, but Bangladesh is opposing it.

Ex-Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Shahidul Hak said both the neighbouring countries have conflict concerning the maritime demarcation issue. The matter is being discussed many times, but the issue persists. Both the countries have approached the UN. It is expected that the conflict will be resolved on a higher platform now. (UN does not resolve the problems but makes it more complex. India has experienced this regarding the Kashmir issue. Let us not hope that the UN will settle the maritime row with a decision. – Editor)
