US-Iran conflict set to end

  • Trump announces peace agreement between the two countries

  • Both nations to sign the agreement on 19 June

  • Oil transportation through Hormuz to resume

  • Iran remains silent; Israel reportedly rejects the agreement

Washington DC (USA) / Tehran (Iran) – US President Donald Trump announced through the social media platform Truth Social that a 14-point peace agreement had been reached between the United States and Iran. As a result, it has been stated that the war between the two countries, which has been ongoing for the past 107 days, is set to end. The agreement is scheduled to be signed on 19 June in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of Trump. Thereafter, the United Nations Security Council will reportedly provide final approval, following which the war will officially come to an end.

Blockade around the Strait of Hormuz to be lifted: Trump

Trump has also ordered the US Navy to completely lift the blockade imposed around the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic waterway connecting major bodies of water. As a result, oil transportation through Hormuz is expected to resume as before. This is expected to ease the energy crisis that has affected many countries worldwide and support struggling economies.

Questions raised over the peace agreement due to Iran’s silence

Iran has not yet issued any official response to Trump’s announcement. Pakistan has also stated that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran; however, Iran has not responded to those claims either. Consequently, questions continue to remain regarding the status of the agreement.

What did Donald Trump say?

Announcing the agreement on Truth Social, Trump said, “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran has been completed. Congratulations to everyone. I hereby announce that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen. I am also authorising the US Navy to remove the blockade. Countries receiving fuel supplies through this strait should resume oil transportation.”

Sharp decline in oil prices; stock markets recover

Following Trump’s announcement, oil prices reportedly fell significantly, with crude oil dropping to approximately $83 per barrel (around ₹7,854). Stock markets, which had been under pressure for several days, also recovered.

Israel rejects the agreement

It is being reported that Israel does not fully accept the agreement reached by the United States. In particular, Israel is said to object to provisions requiring the cessation of military action against Lebanon. One Israeli minister reportedly expressed anger over the agreement, stating that “Israel is not a slave of America.”

Stability will return to the entire region: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the peace agreement between the United States and Iran. He said, “The agreement reached between the two countries to end the ongoing conflict in West Asia is a highly commendable step. This war has caused serious economic difficulties across the world and has resulted in substantial loss of life and property in many countries. Implementation of this peace agreement will restore stability throughout the region and allow safe maritime navigation and trade to resume. India hopes that both countries will continue discussions on the remaining issues and eventually reach a lasting and robust final agreement.”
