Special court rejects bail plea of Deputy Superintendent of Police

Sexual harassment of a minor girl

Mumbai – A Special Court has rejected the bail application of a Deputy Superintendent of Police-rank officer from the Maharashtra Police who was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 9-year-old girl in a public garden. A case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act.

In the order, the Special Judge stated that the accused is a senior Police officer and is fully aware of the nature and consequences of the offence. Since the investigation is at a preliminary stage, it would not be appropriate to release the accused on bail. The victim is only 9 years old and has no reason to falsely implicate the accused in such a case.
