New Delhi – Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed Lok Sabha, Rohingya migrants living in India illegally, pose a danger to national security. It is being reported that the illegal Rohingya migrants are involved daily in some or the other crimes. Central Government has issued instructions to State Governments advising them to sensitise the law enforcement and intelligence agencies for taking appropriate steps for prompt identification of illegal migrants.

Till now, the Government has not taken any decision to prepare the National Register of Indian Citizens (NRC) at the national level. The Government decided to update the National Population Register (NPR) along with the first phase of Census 2021.
