- Chief Justice said that the problems of torture and ill-treatment in Police custody are still being faced by us today (Innocent Indians have been persecuted by the Police during the British rule. It is disgraceful for India that even after 74 years of Independence, innocent people are being tortured by the Police in the name of interrogation. Such disgraceful acts will not happen in Hindu Rashtra. – Editor)
- Even though the Constitution confers certain rights on those who have been arrested or detained by the Police, neglecting them in Police stations causes inconvenience to the detainees. (It shows how the Police stations are functioning. . How would such Police maintain the law and order ? – Editor)
- Information on the Constitutional right to legal aid and the availability of free legal aid services must be disseminated to prevent Police excess.
- Placing posters and billboards outside every Police station and jail will be a stepping stone in this direction. (Realise that none of the political rulers has done it so far. Hence, people feel that the judiciary alone should make it happen. – Editor)
- The gap of obtaining justice for the most privileged and the weakest needs to be bridged
- The reality of social and economic diversity prevailing in our country can never be a reason to deny rights. If the judiciary as an institution wants to earn the trust of the people, we have to assure everyone that we are here for you.
- Insecure elements of society have long been deprived of justice.
- (This is a disgrace to India – Editor)
- Despite the pandemic, we have managed to continue the legal-aid services.
