India outlines its agenda as the President of the United Nations Security Council !
New York (US) – T. S. Tirumurti, the permanent representative of India to the United Nations said that as the President of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), India would try to put a curb on the financial aid provided to terrorists and the latest technology available to them for carrying out attacks. India has become the President of UNSC for August 2021 and is also its temporary member for the year 2021-22. All the member countries get to be the President of UNSC for a month, in turn.

Regarding the agenda of the United Nations, Tirumurti said that priority would be given to issues such as maritime security, fighting against terrorism and maintaining peace. Prime Minister Modi will chair the discussions to be held on 9th August on maritime security. Jaishankar, Indian External Affairs Minister will chair the discussions scheduled on 18th August on the topic of ‘Maintaining peace and Technology’. On 19th August, Jaishankar will join the discussions to be held on the report on ISIS (i.e Islamic State) by Antonio Guterres, the General Secretary of the United Nations.
