Steps taken to curb the growing Muslim population in Assam

Guwahati (Assam) – To curb the growing Muslim population in the State, Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on 4th July called a meeting of 150 Muslim leaders. All present at the meeting agreed that the growing Muslim population is a threat to the development activities in the State. It was decided that the issues will be discussed by the eight sub-groups of Muslim leaders. These groups will discuss the issues and submit their report within three months.

Speaking to the press after the meeting Sarma stated that if Assam had to be among the top-five States in the country, then the population will have to be managed. After getting reports from the eight groups, a roadmap will be drafted to be followed for the next five years.
CM Sarma further said that in the next meeting, along with the minority leaders representatives from the Students Union will also be present. Talks will also be held with intruders like Bangladeshi Muslims. (Why are they not being deported from India ? – Editor)
