During last 1 month, I met both fractions of All Assam Minority Students’ Union & everybody has said that population is a problem & we need to resolve it. Before the meeting, CM Sarma spoke with the journalists and explained that ihe met with factions of the All India Assam Minority Students Union the last month. It was a unanimous opinion that increasing population was an issue and it needed to be addressed. There were no arguments in Assam about it. People are not understanding the seriousness of this situation and they think that BJP is just creating some argument. If someone is trying to eradicate poverty, people should welcome such efforts. The Government is trying to educate the minority. The Muslim community is growing at the rate of 29% and the Hindu population is growing at a rate of 10% per year. Due to this, necessary steps need to be taken to control the Muslim population. Hence, the meeting is conducted with Muslim leaders to motivate them. To resolve this situation, a 2-child policy is appropriate. It can help reduce the poverty and illiteracy within the Muslim community.
