BJP leaders warned MLA Reddy against installing the statue soon upon learning his plan. Since no action was being initiated by the administration, BJP’s State General Secretary Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Kapada District President Yella Reddy, former District President Ankal Reddy, President of ‘Kisan Morcha’ Shashi Bhushan Reddy, and other leaders reached the spot where Sultan’s statue was to be installed. They accused MLA R Siva Prasad Reddy of playing the politics of minority appeasement by installing Sultan’s statue. The Police then arrested all the BJP leaders.
BJP leader Sunil Deodhar has criticised Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said, ‘BJP leaders are arrested just because they opposed the installation of the tyrant ruler Tipu Sultan, who killed thousands of Hindus and destroyed as many temples’.
