Religious fanatics thrash doctor in Hooghly after patient Sheikh Ismail’s death

Doctors and hospital staff stage protest

Such incidents prove that Bengal is on the verge of becoming another Bangladesh. This is the punishment to Hindus who voted TMC to power

Hooghly (WB) – A doctor was brutally thrashed by the family members of a 28-year-old patient Sheikh Ismail, after the latter died at the Pandua Rural Hospital in Hooghly District of West Bengal. Dr. Shivshankar Roy was treating Ismail. Doctors and hospital staff have launched a strike after the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the assailants, besides setting up of a Police camp at the hospital for safety of medical staff. The strike has affected the other patients. Meanwhile, the doctors are only attending to patients in the Emergency unit. Although, more than 24 hours have passed since the incident, none of the accused have been arrested.

BJP has accused and held TMC goons responsible for the incident, while TMC leader Saugata Roy said, ‘We are protecting the doctors’.
