Why is the State Government silent about the book by the journalist Girish Kuber ?
Mumbai – Journalist Girish Kuber’s ‘Renaissance State : The Unwritten Story of the Making of Maharashtra’ has caused a wave of huge rage in the followers of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Many organisations have accused the defamation of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in this book, and descendants of Chhatrapati’s crown in Kolhapur Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje has also demanded a ban on this book. It is surprising that the State Government has not yet taken any action. Therefore, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded that the Government should appoint a committee of scholars of history to study the defamatory matter in the book and take appropriate action. Till such time, the sale of the book should be banned demanded Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
- Journalist Girish Kuber is persistently writing controversial matter. It is inappropriate to compare both Chhatrapati Shivajiraje and Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje without considering the era of both the brave persons during Hindavi Swarajya and different political conditions at that time. ‘Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj did not have patience and foreign policy like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. To stigmatise Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj that after the death of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj indulged in the bloodshed so that he could succeed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ is wrong.
- Similarly, these secular journalists who suppress the tyranny of cruel rulers like Babar-Aurangzeb and discuss only their tolerance have certain vested interests in awakening now only to the intolerance of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Even mentioning again and again that Bajirao Peshwa was the only comparable personality with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in history and thus creating Maratha-Brahman disputes should also be probed by the Government.
- Girish Kuber, after writing about Mother Teresa in the editorial of the Marathi Daily ‘Loksatta’ with the heading ‘Asantanche sant” and when the Christian community opposed it, publicly apologised on the front page on the very next day. Why then does he not make his role clear in reference to the writing of Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje in the event of opposition from millions of followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We demand that only the Government should take immediate action against this.
