An unsuccessful attempt to spread misleading information about the selfless seva of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Mr. Ramesh Shinde (National Spokesperson, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti)

Bitter experience with a so-called devout Hindu individual and his coordinator who demanded unrealistic honorarium for giving a speech in a Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabha !

In one village in a State, a devout Hindu organisation organised a meeting to create awakening about Hindu Dharma. The organisers decided to invite 2 well-known personalities as speakers. One of them was an individual (who speaks on Hindutva) and the other was a volunteer of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS).

When the organisers contacted the individual, his coordinators demanded Rs. 51,000 as honorarium. The organising committee of the Hindu organisation were prepared to pay Rs. 21,000; however, the individual did not agree with this. Therefore, the organisers decided to hold the meeting in the presence of 300-400 people in one Hall without inviting this individual.

The organisers told the person who was coordinating for this individual that HJS’ speaker had not asked for anything to participate in the programme. The coordinator of the individual said, “Their organisation, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, is big. They run big companies”. In this way, the individual’s coordinator tried to spread misleading information about HJS.

After this incident, the organisers of the meeting contacted the volunteers of HJS. Then, the organisers expressed themselves about taking a firm stand on the honorarium demanded by the well-known speaker – “Are such people propagating Sanatan Dharma or looting Hindus ? We are not organising the meeting for our selfish interests or for our family. We are organising it to awaken the community. From the experience we have of such people who believe that money is everything, we felt that India will become an Islamic Nation, not a Hindu Nation; because, Maulanas propagate their religion for free”.

The following perspectives should be understood from this incident.

1. Although the lectures for commercial purposes in the field of Hindutva seemed inspiring, the speaker’s yearning for bringing about awakening on Dharma and lack of a seva attitude would not have the desired effect on the audience. Since Swami Vivekanand followed Sanatan Dharma, he won the hearts of the foreign audience when he said, ‘My dear brothers and sisters’. This shows that the spiritual practice of the speaker and his abidance by Dharma are more important than the style of his speech. HJS volunteers are walking on this path.

2. Those who work selflessly and with a seva attitude prefer HJS volunteers rather than those who ask for high honorariums to raise issues in Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabhas. Such people make false statements such as ‘HJS runs big companies’ and throwing mud on the goodness of others to cover up for their own shortcomings. Is not this hatred for HJS ? Can one who lies perform the mission of Hindutva honestly ?
