Ankara (Turkey) – WhatsApp said that it was updating its terms of service and privacy policies, and if the new rules are not agreed upon then the user will be blocked on WhatsApp. The new rules force users to agree on sharing more of their data with Facebook, that owns WhatsApp and also with its other websites. Turkey’s Competition Board said that it has ordered a suspension of WhatsApp out of concern for its user’s personal information. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s office and Turkey’s Defence Ministry announced that they were ceasing the use of WhatsApp for communication. Instead they will use Turkish messaging application, Bip, with end to end encryption, developed by their mobile phone operator, Turkcell.
