Amendment of the Waqf Act is essential

Successor of Ajmer Dargah’s spiritual head, Syed Naseruddin Chishti, supports the Waqf Amendment Bill

Ajmer (Rajasthan) – “I believe that there is a need to amend the Waqf Act. This bill will bring transparency and help protect Waqf properties. Encroachments will be removed, and the rent from Waqf properties will increase, which will benefit society. Protesting and supporting are both part of democracy. If someone is protesting in a constitutional manner, there is nothing wrong with it. However, I believe that the Waqf Act needs to be amended,” said Syed Naseruddin Chishti, President of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council and successor of the spiritual head of the Ajmer Dargah.

No mosque will be taken, yet misleading claims are being made

Syed Naseruddin Chishti further stated, “The amendment does not mean that mosques or properties will be taken away. It would be wrong to say this. This is a part of democracy. The Government is in no hurry, this bill has been brought with great ease after discussion in the JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee). While many Muslim religious leaders are supporting the bill, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board is opposing it. Why were people asked to wear black bands in protest against this bill ? The amended law has not yet presented in the Parliament. First let it be introduced, and then mislead us by saying that our mosque will be taken away. When Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has assured no mosques will be taken away, still you are deceiving us like this."
