500 Indians among prisoners released by UAE during Ramzan

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Dubai (UAE) – The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has announced the collective release of prisoners during the holy month of Ramzan. Among those released are 500 Indians who were serving sentences for various offences. These prisoners have been freed from UAE prisons. Reports state that in the last week of February, Sheikh Zayed ordered the release of 1,295 prisoners. Additionally, under the orders of Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, 1,518 more prisoners were also released.

1. Every year during Ramzan, the UAE Government grants amnesty to hundreds of prisoners who have not been involved in serious crimes. A significant number of Indians are included in this release.

2. The purpose of this initiative is to reunite these prisoners with their families and reintegrate them into society.

3. Dubai’s Attorney General, Chancellor Issam Issa Al Humaidan, said that this decision reflects the UAE President’s commitment to those who have served their sentences. The release allows these individuals to start afresh in life.

4. The Dubai judiciary, with the assistance of the Police, has initiated the process of releasing these prisoners. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed has also assured that the financial liabilities of the released prisoners will be taken care of, ensuring that their families do not bear any financial burden.
