Mumbai – For the last 18 months, Andhra Pradesh has seen a spate of attacks on temples. This has outraged Hindus all over the country. On 9th January #SaveAndhraTemples was trending on 4th place in national trends on Twitter. More than 20 thousand people tweeted their protest against the vandalism of several temples. While appealing for Hindus to unitedly stop the attacks on temples, they also demanded that the State Government run by Jaganmohan Reddy ensures temples are protected.

  1. Why is temple protection in the hands of an unsuccessful government? Temples should be released from government control and their administration should be handed over to the devotees.
  2. In Andhra Pradesh, when a church window was broken, a case was registered against 31 people in a single day; but despite 120 attacks on temples not a single person has been arrested. This is the true face of Andhra Pradesh government’s minority appeasement!
  3. These temple attacks raise the question whether we are living in Pakistan, where Hindus are constantly under attack. If temples are not secure in India, how can they be safe elsewhere?
