Raj Thackeray’s directive during a Gudhi Padwa gathering

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – During a gathering on the occasion of Gudhi Padwa, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray stated, ‘Remove the decorations around Aurangzeb’s tomb. Only the grave should be visible and put up a large board that reads: ‘Aurangzeb, who came to destroy Marathas, was buried here. Let the world know who we laid to rest. Additionally, school trips should be arranged to visit this site.’ Following this, on April 2, MNS Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District President Sumeet Khambekar installed a board in the central part of the city bearing the message: ‘Aurangzeb, who came to destroy the Marathas, was buried here.’

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, outlining the following five demands:
1. Any decoration around Aurangzeb’s tomb should be removed immediately.
2. No further government funds should be allocated for this site.
3. All school educational trips to this location should be announced.
4. A board with inscription, ‘Aurangzeb, who came to destroy Marathas, was buried here,’ should be installed.
5. CCTV cameras should be set up at the site.
Editorial PerspectiveWhy should these demands have to be made ? The administration should recognize their importance on its own and take action. |
