Apart from setting up new ‘Gaushalas’, the government should pay attention to the existing ones and improve their working conditions for the wellbeing of the cows.
Lakshmanpuri (UP) – The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the Chief Secretary of the state Rajendra Kumar Tiwari to call for new proposals from the District Magistrates for the setting up ‘Gaushalas’ in the state. An amount of Rs 147 crores has been allocated for setting up 120 ’Gaushalas’. The order also stated that if necessary ‘gosevaks’ can be appointed from the Finance Commission’s budget, for taking care of the cows. A few days ago, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Vadra, in a letter to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, had mentioned the need for more gaushalas in the state, as cows were dying due to the cold weather. The UP government subsequently passed this order.
