Possibilities of temple being demolished and buried during Moghul invasion

Ujjain – The Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain is one of Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlingas. During the expansion work going on in the Mahakaleshwar temple premises, an ancient temple dating back 1000 years has been discovered. There are intricate carvings on the walls and stones of this temple. On receiving information, officials of various departments including the archaeology department reached there.
The structure could belong to the time of the Parmar dynasty, as the red brown basalt found during the excavation was used during that period.https://t.co/o8eZUnnT3V

Archaeological expert Dr. Raman Solanki said that this is the first time that such a structure and relics have been found. The temple’s form would be clear only after the excavation is complete. As per primary evidence these remains could be from the Islamic invasion. It is clear that the temple was demolished and buried. This temple could be around 1000 years old and from the Parmar period.
