Will Shashi Tharoor comment on the politics-based secular ideology of the Congress that has been appeasing fanatics while all the time suppressing Hindus ?
New Delhi – Congress leader Shashi Tharoor claimed that the Hindutva ideology is more of a political doctrine than a religious one. Tharoor was speaking in an interview on his recently published book ‘The Battle of Belonging’.
Tharoor further asserted that secularism as principle and practice is in danger in India. He said that forces of hatred cannot alter the Nation’s secular character. (Secularism was never fostered in India; whatever apparent is, the tolerance shown by Hindus. Hindus are aware of the current state of affairs and have become more vigilant, which Tharoor is now opposing ! – Editor)
When he was asked – ‘Given the popularity of Hindutva, will Congress endorse soft Hindutva ?’ – Tharoor said that Congress cannot risk becoming the soft version of BJP, as it would make the Congress zero. (Congress is anyways good for nothing in the present times and on the verge of becoming defunct ! – Editor) Congress is not BJP in any way, and thus there’s no question of endorsing soft Hindutva. There is a distinction between Hindu Dharma and Hindutva.
