“Not even a condolence meeting was held after the death of my father” : Sharmishtha Mukherjee

Congress demands memorial for Manmohan Singh, Dr Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter reacts

New Delhi –  Sharmishtha Mukherjee, daughter of former President of India and late Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee, has expressed her anguish,  “at the time of my father’s death, Congress executive committee did not organise even a simple condolence meeting”. She added on X, “At the time of my father’s death a senior Congress leader had told me that condolence meeting is not organised for the President. That is completely wrong. In my father’s diary, there is a note, which says, at the time of former President KR Narayanan’s death,  a condolence was held by the executive committee and my father had written the condolence message.”

On 28th December, the funeral of the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was performed with state honour. On 27th December, Congress had demanded a memorial for Dr Manmohan Singh as he was the son of the soil. The Union Government has approved of it. That triggered reaction from Sharmishtha Mukherjee. Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh passed away on the night of 26th December in Delhi.

Editorial Perspective

There is truth in Sharmishtha Mukherjee’s allegation. Not only Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao was also humiliated by Congress at the time of his funeral. if those who had been loyal to Congress all their lives were humiliated by Congress, then it is obvious that common man does not even exist for them. This is the real face of Congress.
