Denigration of Shri Durgadevi by the Democratic Party in the US presidential election campaign

• Government of India should condemn the act of using Hindu Deities for election propaganda and demand its removal. If Hindu Deities, Dharma, etc. are being insulted anywhere in the world, then Hindus expect the Indian Government to oppose it every time.
• Why did not the leaders of the Democratic Party dare to use their own religious images in Christianity for canvassing in the election ?

New York (USA) – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden will run in next month’s US presidential election. The vice-presidential candidate of Joe Biden is Kamala Harris, daughter of a woman of Indian descent. In India, campaigning on the basis of religion is prohibited. Doing so may disqualify the candidate who won the election.

In the United States, however, the election campaign can go to any level. An example of this is the local organisation ‘Hindu Hindu Network’ which has spread a denigrating picture of Shri Durgadevi on social media. It has a picture of Kamala Harris in the guise of Shri Durgadevi. Joe Biden’s face is shown on the lion which is the Goddess’s vehicle, and the monster that the Goddess assassinates is portrayed as Donald Trump. That is, Kamala Haria has been portrayed as Shri Durgadevi, Joe Biden as a lion and Donald Trump as Mahishasur.

Hindus in the US are enraged over the mockery of Hindu Deity in the elections, during the during Navaratri festival itself. They are protesting against the ‘Global Hindu Network’, which is promoting the election campaign, by contacting it through the e-mail.

The main objective in protesting against anti-Hindu elements is to bring about an ideological transformation in them.
