Mehbuba Mufti and Iltija Mufti

Srinagar (J&K) – ‘The 5th August is not a historical day, but it is a black day for us’, said the daughter of former Chief Minister of J&K Mehbuba Mufti, Iltija Mufti. The 5th of August is the first anniversary of the removal of Article 370 making J&K a Union territory. The Central Government kept Mehbuba Mufti in house arrest after suspension of Article 370. The Government extended the house arrest by three months on 31st  July.  Iltija Mufti was speaking with the reference of this extension.

She continued, “A collective protest is needed for resisting the removal of Article 370. Now J&K is a dreaded State. Freedom of expression is suspended, all citizens are in jail. The removal of Article 370 will not eliminate terrorism. This is evident from the murder of Wasim Bari”.
