Failure to control the floods in last 72 years is shameful for the Government of all parties !
This grim picture is shameful for the boastful administration of ‘Smart City’ !
Guwahati (Assam) / Patna (Bihar) – There are floods in the States of Assam and Bihar due to continuous rains. ‘NDRF’ has been called in view of the severe floods of these two States. ‘NDRF’ soldiers have rescued more than 95,000 people to a safe place. The Meteorological Department has forecast torrential rains for the next few days, which has caused concern among the citizens.
In Assam 26 of 33 Districts flooded: 2,525 villages surrounded by the floodwater
Floods in Assam have caused a furore, as 26 out of 33 Districts have been flooded. The death toll due to floods has risen to 129. Districts of Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Tinsukia are the most affected. Currently, the Brahamaputra River is flowing above the danger limit. Hence, the floodwater has surrounded 2,525 villages of the State. 1.5 million hectares of crops have been destroyed due to excessive rainfall. On 23rd July, Governor Jagdish Mukhi made an ariel survey of the flood affected Districts, while Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, also visited a few places. ‘NDRF’ has so far rescued 70,000 flood victims to a safe place in 400 cantonments.

10 districts of Bihar hit by floods : 7 lakh 75 thousand citizens affected
Like every year, floods has arisen this year too, in the State. This flood has hit 10 Districts of the State and 7 lakh 75 thousand citizens have been affected. Especially the Districts bordering Nepal east and west of Champaran, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Shihor, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Gopalganj have been the worst affected. A ruckus is created in a total of 245 Panchayats of all the Districts. So far, 5 thousand flood victims have been kept in the improvised cantonments. 13 ‘NDRF’ contingents have been deployed here for rescue operations and they have so far transported 36,448 civilians to a safe place.
Administration’s planning washed away in the floods !
In the States of Assam and Bihar, lakhs of citizens suffer and many people die every year due to the floods. The administration has not been able to control the flood in all these years. Therefore, like every year, this year too the picture of administration’s planning has failed everywhere. Fury is being expressed by the flood victims on this insensitivity of the administration.
