92-year-old senior advocate K Parasaran, who represented ‘Ramalla Virajman’ in the Ram Janmabhoomi case, and fought for 40 years in the Court

On 9th November, the Supreme Court gave its verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi case. The case had been going on for many decades. Despite this, senior advocate K Parasaran (Age 92) represented ‘Ramlalla Virajman’ for the last 40 years. In this case, just since there were Hindu and Muslim petitioners, Bhagawan Shriram, that is, ‘Ramlalla Virajman’ was also a petitioner. Advocate K. Parasaran played a very important role in this case and presented many important aspects studiously and seriously. This is why the Supreme Court has given a verdict which was expected by all the devotees of Shriram. On the occasion of this case, we present here some outstanding qualities of Adv. Parasaran.

Spiritual longing towards Prabhu Shriram !

A thorough study of the case !

Before submitting his side, Advocate K Parasaran studied the matter thoroughly. He used to read, study and work on the case daily from 10.30 a.m. till late in the evening.

Advocate K Parasaran has a group of young advocates to assist him, and they were also deeply involved in the Ram Janmabhoomi case. These young advocates said that they used to get inspired watching the persistence and study of 92-year-old K Parasaran. Advocate Parasaran has been working on the case for the past 40 years, but he never gave up.

A detailed study of Ayodhya case

Advocate K Parasaran has studied the Ayodhya case so thoroughly that he often told the Court important dates in the case without referring to any documents. Adv. Parasaran used to tell the dates of various incidents by calculating on his fingers. He has done so much research and reading on ‘Ayodhya’ that a book can be written on this endeavour.

During the Ayodhya case hearing, arguments by both, Advocate Parasaran and Advocate Rajiv Dhawan (who was representing the Muslim party) took place in the Court.

During the final hearing of the case, Advocate Parasaran was calm and restrained even when Advocate Rajiv Dhawan tore a copy of the Ram Mandir map presented in the Court by the advocate representing the Hindu party.

A glimpse into Adv. Parasaran’s work

During the President’s rule in Tamil Nadu in 1976, Adv. Parasaran was the Attorney General for the State. During the rule of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he was the Advocate General for the Government of India. He was honoured with the ‘Padma Bhushan’ by the Central Government in 2003 and ‘Padma Vibhushan’ in the Year 2011. He was given membership of the Rajya Sabha by the President in the Year 2012.

After 2016, Adv. Parasaran appeared in the Supreme Court only in the historical Ram Janmabhoomi case and the case in respect of admitting women between the ages of 10-50 in the Temple at Sabarimala.

Adv. Parasaran, an advocate who has represented most of the Governments, has been a favourite advisor for them since the Year 1970. Justice of the Supreme Court and former Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Mr. Sanjay Kishan Kaul, has called Adv. Parasaran ‘Grandfather of the Indian Bar Council’ who practised as an advocate without enunciating the Principles of Dharma.

Adv. Parasaran had fought a lawsuit in favour of the ban imposed on women in the age group of 10-50 years in the Shri Ayyappa Swamy Temple at Sabarimala.
