Mumbai – The incident involving alleged religious conversion and ‘Corporate Jihad’ at TCS in Nashik is an eye-opener. Nine cases have been registered in connection with the matter. Such cases follow a specific modus operandi. Although numerous laws already exist, they are often not properly enforced. A committee comprising women members from both Houses of the Legislature — the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council — should be constituted to study the existing laws relating to sexual exploitation and recommend amendments and corrective measures wherever necessary, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed.

He was responding to a discussion during Question Hour in the Legislative Council on the alleged TCS ‘Corporate Jihad’ case in Nashik, as well as incidents of harassment and misconduct against women in various establishments. Shiv Sena MLC Dr Manisha Kayande, BJP MLC Mrs Chitra Wagh, MLC Uma Khapre and MLC Madhavi Naik had raised starred questions on the issue.

The Chief Minister further stated:

1. Various complaints have been received regarding alleged ‘Jihad’ and religious conversion incidents at TCS, Wipro and the Government ITI in Solapur. In Solapur, there was an incident involving the alleged harassment of 150 girls. An inquiry will be conducted and action will be taken against those found guilty.

2. In Talegaon Dabhade, a woman who lodged a complaint regarding alleged harassment at a Spanish company was dismissed from her job. A senior-level inquiry into the matter will be completed within 15 days. Action will be taken against those responsible and injustice to the victim will not be allowed.

3. At Wipro as well, a Hindu widow was allegedly dismissed after reporting harassment. These incidents will certainly be investigated.
