Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz again

Decision taken in response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon

Tehran (Iran) – Iran has once again announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway connecting two major bodies of water. According to Iranian authorities, the decision was taken in response to Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. Iran also stated that “if these attacks continue, our future strategy has already been determined.” This move could once again adversely affect global energy supplies.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned vessels not to approach the Strait of Hormuz, stating that “their safety could be at risk,” according to Iranian media reports.

The waterway had only recently been reopened earlier this week following the peace agreement between the United States and Iran. As a result, oil shipments and other maritime traffic had resumed after months of disruption.

United States rejects Iran’s claim of closing the Strait of Hormuz

The United States military has rejected Iran’s claim that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed. It stated that the vital shipping route remains open and that US forces are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that it continues to remain accessible.
