Saharanpur Ghar Wapsi

Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) – A Muslim man named Shahzad has undergone Ghar Wapasi along with his entire family. The 40-year-old resident of Behri village embraced Sanatan Dharma along with his wife and children. Shahzad has been given the new name ‘Shankar’. According to him, he took this decision based on his own faith and convictions.

1. In Haridwar, in the presence of Dharmacharya Arun Krishna Maharaj, Shahzad and his family embraced Sanatan Dharma according to Vedic traditions.

2. On 19 June, Shankar returned to Saharanpur with his family. Villagers welcomed the family by applying tilak and garlanding them. Upon reaching the village, the family first visited a temple of Deity Shiva and offered prayers.

Shankar was fed up with the fundamentalist ideology of Islam.

3. The names of the family members were also changed. His wife Raziya was renamed Savitri, his son Rehan became Rudra, his daughter Muskan became Rukmini and his younger daughter Rozi was renamed Diksha.

4. Shankar said that he had long had faith in Sanatan Dharma and had become weary of the hard-line ideology of Islam.

5. According to Shankar, he often participated in worship and religious programmes. As a result, maulanas used to issue fatwas against him.
