Former Union Minister’s brother Anwar Hussain arrested in cow slaughter case

Hindu organizations had seized a car with 700 kg of beef

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) – Police have arrested Anwar Hussain, brother of former Union Minister Sarwar Hussain, in connection with the smuggling of over 700 kg of prohibited meat seized in January this year. The Police took this action after the forensic lab’s inspection report revealed that the prohibited meat was beef.

1. This entire case dates back to the night of January 15th, 2026. Members of the Gau Raksha Dal had received information that a vehicle was carrying prohibited meat. The activists surrounded a vehicle near the Gabhana Toll Plaza and stopped it. The meat, packed in boxes with ice, was seized from this vehicle. On examination, it was found that the total weight of this meat was more than 700 kg. The Police sent a sample of the meat to a laboratory in Mathura for examination. In April, the report from the laboratory revealed that this meat was beef.

2. Police investigation revealed that the beef was supplied from the ‘Al Hamd Meat Factory’ in Khurja. The owner of this factory is Anwar Hussain, the brother of the former Union Minister. The Police at Chandaus Police station first arrested Anwar’s servant Islam Khan on the evening of June 18th. After this, Anwar was arrested.

3. Anwar Hussain’s brother Sarwar Hussain was elected as an MP from Bulandshahr in 1989. He was also the Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies in the Chandrashekhar government.

Editorial Perspective

It cannot be imagined how many cows Anwar has slaughtered and sent their meat to across India and abroad so far. There is a need to enact a law to punish cow killers with death penalty and take strict action against them.
