Case of putting up posters recommending beef to infants
Commissioner promises to investigate the matter and take action against the
guilty

Navi Mumbai – A woman officer who put up posters recommending beef to infants at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation hospital in Vashi, has been transferred, informed the Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde. The matter will be investigated and action will be taken against the guilty, he said.
1. A poster was put up in a hospital in Vashi recommending beef as complementary feeding to the infants aged 9 to 11 months. As no action was taken against the guilty officials despite hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus, an agitation was held at the municipal corporation headquarters by the Bajrang Dal under the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
2. Corporator Nishant Bhagat presented this point through an attention notice in the Municipal Corporation’s general assembly hall. He demanded that the organization and the responsible person promoting beef consumption should be investigated and legal action taken.
3. Hindu activists protested against the administration by sitting outside the general assembly hall for hurting the sentiments of Hindus. When the activists complained to the commissioner about this, saying, ‘It is serious to have such a poster in a government building’, he advised them to ‘leave this matter as it is a minor mistake’. Bhagat demanded that the commissioner apologize for this matter and investigate the matter and take action against the guilty.
4. Leader of the House Sagar Naik suggested that a case be registered on behalf of the Municipal Corporation. Aparna Gavate said that beef is being sold in Sathenagar, Sanjay Gandhinagar in her ward. It was alleged that despite informing the Municipal Corporation officials about this matter, no action was taken.
5. Commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde said, “I did not make a statement that as this is a minor issue, let it go.” It is not right to put up such a poster in a government building. I respect everyone’s feelings. Recognizing the seriousness of this matter, the concerned officers have been immediately transferred. The entire matter will be investigated and action will be taken against the guilty.
