Mumbai – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Hindavi Swarajya, was not just a warrior, but a great protector of Dharma and a visionary person of the era. 350 years ago today, that is, on June 19th, 1676, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj purified the mighty general Netaji Palkar and honourably re-inducted him into Hindu Dharma. This unprecedented and historic event completes 350 years on June 19th, 2026. On the occasion of this historic tricentennial golden jubilee year, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has appealed to all Hindu organizations to celebrate this day as ‘National Gharwpasi Day’ across the country.

Mr Ramesh Shinde, National Spokesperson of the HJS,

said in this regard that even after 350 years, this history is important and guiding for us. Millions of Hindu brothers and sisters have converted to other religions by falling prey to various lures, pressure or harassment. In today’s times, many Hindu girls are being dragged into other religions as they fall prey to a well-planned conspiracy like ‘Love Jihad’. The Hindu society should abandon this mentality of ‘If she goes, let her go, now she has nothing to do with us’. It is very important to remember this historical day to give a safe and dignified place in Hindu Dharma and society to these Hindu girls who have been trapped and deceived in ‘Love Jihad’. The entire Hindu society, Saints and organizations need to come forward keeping this ideal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in mind. We should open our doors and hearts to those brothers and especially sisters who want to return to Hindu Dharma.

History of Netaji Palkar

The first commander of Swarajya, Netaji Palkar, was treacherously imprisoned by the Mughals. After suffering a lot, he was forcibly converted to Islam and his name was changed to ‘Muhammad Quli Khan’. Despite living in a foreign religion and a foreign land for many years, Netaji’s heart yearned for Swarajya. When he escaped from the clutches of the Mughals and again came to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Raigad, the Maharaj performed his ritualistic purification according to the scriptures. According to the Shakavali, Netaji Palkar was accepted back into Hindu Dharma on the day of Shaka 1598, Ashadh Vadya 4 (19th June 1676).
