Ayodhya (UP) – Although three complaints have been filed with the police regarding the theft of donations offered at the Shri Ram Temple, no criminal case has yet been registered. The first complaint has been filed by Santosh Dubey, founder of the Dharma Sena organisation and a karsevak (a volunteer who participated in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement). The second complaint has been lodged by Sharad Shukla, Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Youth Congress, while the third has been filed by the Karni Sena. To investigate the matter, the state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), and the investigation has already begun.

The SIT obtained information regarding the theft of donations from Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. In addition, trust member Gopal Rao was summoned and questioned. The team has also interrogated 42 suspected employees.

Karni Sena warns of agitation if accused are not arrested!

Abhinav Singh, State President of the Karni Sena, stated that those responsible should be sent to prison. He alleged that while police often detain ordinary citizens during investigations, the accused in this case continue to remain free. He warned that if an FIR is not registered and the accused are not arrested, the Karni Sena will launch an agitation.

₹2 Crore recovered so far

So far, five individuals have been named in connection with the theft case; Lavkush, Avneesh, Anukalp, Karune, and Ramshankar. According to information provided by them during the investigation, ₹2 crore has been recovered so far. All five individuals are associated with the task of counting of donated funds. Lavkush and Anukalp are currently in police custody.
