
New Delhi – India’s veteran shooter Jaspal Rana passed away on 12 June at the age of 49. He had reportedly fallen ill while returning from Germany on 1 June. After arriving in Delhi, he was admitted to a private hospital, where he passed away on 12 June.

Born in Uttarkashi in present-day Uttarakhand, he burst onto the world stage in 1994 winning gold in Asian Games Hiroshima as well as Arjuna Award in the same year.

Jaspal Rana won gold medals on nine occasions at the Commonwealth Games. He was also the coach of Manu Bhaker, who won two medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
