NEET re-examination paper setters to remain in isolation until June 21!

  • Strict restrictions due to the question paper leak in the month of May

  • The exam to be held on June 21

New Delhi – In the backdrop of the re-examination of ‘NEET-UG’ on June 21, the administration has kept paper setters at an undisclosed location and is ensuring that they do not come into contact with anyone. This special arrangement has been made to restore trust in the examination system and prevent any possibility of question paper leakage.

After the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam held in May, it had come to light that the question paper was leaked. The examination was annulled. Following this, a comprehensive investigation led to the arrest of several people, including experts and question paper setters. The investigation revealed that the scam was widespread in several States. Due to this, strict measures are being taken this time.

Who will be kept in isolation?

People who prepare, review or translate the question paper, and those involved in this confidential process.

What are the rules for continuous monitoring?

The use of mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches and other communication devices will be prohibited. Strict restrictions have been imposed on internet use, and contact with the outside world has been almost cut off. Entry and exit to the centre are being closely monitored, and only authorised persons are being allowed entry.

Scope of the exam

More than 22 lakh students are expected to appear for the NEET examination. The examination will be conducted in the traditional written format from 2 PM to 5:15 PM on June 21. The exam will be conducted in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.

Alert at Every Stage!

Officials said that stricter monitoring is now being maintained at every stage of the examination process, from preparation and translation of question papers to moderation (review and standardisation of marks), printing, packaging, storage, transportation and distribution. The entire process has been divided into different parts, so that no single person or group has control or knowledge of the entire operational chain.

The administration is also paying special attention to the transportation of question papers. It is learnt that the government is also considering the possibility of using Indian Air Force aircraft to safely transport examination materials across the country.

Completely resolve all shortcomings: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan instructed officials that this re-examination should be conducted only after completely resolving the errors that came to light during the previous examination process.

Editorial Perspective

It is shameful that India has to impose such restrictions! It is equally shameful that such tendencies have crept into an education system that was built to produce good citizens.
