Reciting Full ‘Vande Mataram’ is RSS Policy – Accuses Former Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – It had already been clarified that there was no need to sing the full ‘Vande Mataram’. There is also no need to stand when only the first two stanzas of ‘Vande Mataram’ are sung. Singing the full ‘Vande Mataram’ is the policy of the RSS. “The full ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung at the time of swearing-in ceremony of the Kerala Chief Minister, which was not necessary. Later, the State Government seems to have taken a strict decision. The same stand is required” – stated former CM and the present opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan.

BJP had accused Kerala Government of insulting the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ by not reciting it in full during the address of Governor Rajendra Arlekar. Thereafter, Vijayan clarified his stand on this issue. There is a directive by the Central Government to recite full ‘Vande Mataram’ in programs attended by the State Governors; but Kerala State Assembly did not follow this directive which is an insult to the Governor. Senior BJP leader and MLA V. Muraleedharan alleged that ‘Vande Mataram’ was disrespected during its 150th anniversary observance.

Editorial Perspective

Not singing the full ‘Vande Mataram’ was part of the Congress policy of appeasing Muslims. The BJP-led Central Government has now abolished this through legislation. Therefore, singing the full ‘Vande Mataram’ is now legally valid. If anyone violates this, action should be taken against them. Even if that person is Vijayan, action should still be taken.
