Terrorist knife attack by a man at a railway station in Switzerland; 3 injured

Bern (Switzerland) – A man injured three people in a knife attack at the railway station in the city of Winterthur, Switzerland. Authorities have described the attack as a terrorist incident. The Police have arrested the attacker. The accused has been identified as a 31-year-old man holding dual Swiss and Turkish citizenship. He is a resident of Winterthur.

Police chief Marius Weyermann said that the man had first come to the attention of authorities in 2015 for spreading propaganda for the Islamic State group. In recent times, he had been taken to a psychiatric facility after making unusual calls to the Police emergency number. However, he was released after doctors concluded that he was not dangerous.
