Child abuse by school monitors reported in more than 100 schools in France

Paris (France) – Cases of violence, sexual abuse, and rape involving young children have reportedly come to light in more than 100 schools across various cities in France, including the capital, Paris. The revelations have sparked widespread public outrage across the country. Paris Government Prosecutor Laure Beccuau stated that investigations are currently underway in 84 preschools, 20 primary schools, and 10 day-care centres in the capital alone.

The allegations have been made against school monitors. These are staff members responsible for looking after children during lunch breaks, playtime, naptime, and after-school activities.
