Muslim community emerges as the largest community in Karnataka state

Caste census report submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reveals

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Before stepping down from the post of Chief Minister, Karnataka Congress leader Siddaramaiah drew everyone’s attention by accepting the caste census report. The final report submitted to the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission has recommended increasing reservation for backward classes from 32% to 42%. It also states that the Muslim community, with 14% of the population approximately 80.14 lakh people  is the single largest community in the state.

The report contains detailed information on caste-wise population, as well as the social, economic and political conditions of each caste. It consists of 13 chapters. According to the report:

1. The Veerashaiva-Lingayat community is the second-largest community in Karnataka, with 11% of the population, amounting to approximately 60 to 65 lakh people.

2. The Vokkaliga community is the third-largest community, with 10% of the population, amounting to approximately 55 to 60 lakh people.

3. The Kuruba community accounts for 8% of the population, with around 40 to 45 lakh people, making it the fourth-largest community in the state. (This is clearly an attempt to divide Hindus in the name of caste census. Hindus in Karnataka must remain alert and united. That is the need of the hour. – Editor)

After submitting the caste census report to the Chief Minister, Backward Classes Commission Chairman Madhusudan Naik told the media that the report has been completed, including the section related to backward classes. The report is around 300 pages long. However, some people did not participate in the survey process, which could mean that the data may be incomplete. (This means that the information in the report itself may be incomplete and inaccurate. Consequently, any action taken based on this report could also be flawed. Concerned citizens should challenge this report in court! – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

The Union Government has already shown no interest in conducting a caste census. In such a situation, Congress is conspiring to divide Hindus through such a census exercise. Moreover, despite there being more than 200 castes within the Muslim community itself, they have all been presented as a single unified group. This once again exposes Congress’s appeasement politics toward Muslims.
