D.K. Shivakumar to become the new Chief Minister

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka’s ruling Congress Government has resigned from his post. At 3 p.m. on 28 May, he visited Raj Bhavan (‘Lok Bhavan’) and submitted his resignation to the Governor’s Secretary. Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar was present with him at the time. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot is currently outside the State due to family reasons.
Earlier, a meeting of MLAs was held at Siddaramaiah’s residence, where he informed them that he was resigning from the post. Karnataka Minister H.K. Patil said that during the meeting, D.K. Shivakumar’s name was finalised and that he would be the next Chief Minister of the State.
