NIA raids madarasa in Kashmir being used as a terrorist hub

Residence of the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami also raided

Srinagar (J&K) – On 25 May, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at several locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror funding case linked to Jamaat-e-Islami. During the operation carried out at three locations in Shopian and Srinagar, documents and digital devices related to terror financing were seized. A raid was conducted on the madarasa “Darul-Uloom Sirajul-Uloom” in Shopian, which had allegedly become a “hub for terrorists.” Officials also raided the residence of Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shahzada Aurangzeb. In addition, a raid was conducted on the girls’ madrasa “Jamiyat-ul-Banat” in Srinagar.

According to information provided by NIA officials, Jamaat-e-Islami has been accused of supporting terrorism, promoting separatist ideology, and encouraging anti-national activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Editorial Perspective

Several pieces of evidence have emerged showing madarasas becoming centres of terrorism. Therefore, banning madarasas in the country would be in the interest of national security!
