Opposition will continue until the Act is withdrawn: Sunil Ghanwat

The Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh firmly opposes the Act. The Government claims to be devoutly Hindu; therefore, it should introduce laws that benefit temples. Mr Sunil Ghanwat stated that the opposition would continue until the proposed draft law allowing the sale of temple inam lands is withdrawn. He appealed to trustees, priests, devotees, and all citizens across the State to submit their suggestions and objections against the Act at the earliest.
The delegation also presented before the Revenue Minister the issues relating to encroachments on temple lands and the difficulties faced by temple priests and trustees. On behalf of the Mahasangh, a demand was made that instead of selling temple inam lands, the Maharashtra Government should take action to remove encroachments from temple properties. Minister Bawankule assured positive action in this regard. He further said that instructions would also be issued to Divisional Commissioners, Tehsildar offices, and District Collector offices so that a larger number of trustees could submit their suggestions and objections regarding the Act.
