Sanatani tendencies are fueling regressive ideologies through mini Kumbha Mela: Advocate Asim Sarode

Satara (Maharashtra) – ‘Chhatrapati Pratapsingh Maharaj of Satara, Nana Jagannath Shankar Sheth, and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj had faced opposition from rigid Sanatani elements in Wai. Swami Kevalanand Saraswati had launched a movement for religious reform against the Sanatani forces that held the view that Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj had no right to Vedic rites. At present, regressive ideologies are being encouraged by Sanatani tendencies through the mini Kumbha Mela’, Advocate Asim Sarode said while expressing his views.

Sarode said, “The Government is spending ₹1.5 crores for the mini Kumbha Mela in Wai. Transparent information should be placed before the public regarding exactly for whom and for what purpose this money is being spent. Who are the Saints and Sadhus (Ascetics) attending the mini Kumbha Mela? What are their backgrounds? What has been their contribution to society? No official information regarding this has been provided to citizens. Merely in the name of religion, people’s sentiments are being manipulated. Across the country, allegations have been made against some so-called godmen regarding drug consumption, fraud, and spreading superstition. Therefore, it is necessary to verify the background of the Saints participating in this mini Kumbha Mela.”

• Advocate Sarode is attempting to create caste-based discord in society in the backdrop of the mini Kumbha Mela. Those who do not believe in God and Dharma should not interfere in religious matters such as the Kumbha Mela!
• It hardly needs to be mentioned that a person whose legal licence had been suspended for a few months for referring to constitutional posts such as the Governor as “useless” is only making a mockery of himself through such baseless statements!
• Such statements by individuals like Sarode, who are no longer relevant, are being made merely for cheap popularity. One can only pity such individuals who lack public support and are regarded as fringe elements!
