We are India’s strategic partners: Marco Rubio

Meeting between Dr S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

New Delhi – ‘The United States and India aren’t just allies; we’re strategic allies. Relations between the two countries are not simply limited to the region; it extends to opportunities to cooperate globally in different regions of the world. A strong partnership already exists between the two nations, and efforts are now underway to strengthen it further. India and the United States are the world’s two largest democracies. The two countries share several common interests. Cooperation between them is not limited only to Asia, but there are also possibilities of working together in other parts of the world,’ US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said. He was speaking after delegation-level talks held in New Delhi with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening the India–US strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation on global issues.

EAM Jaishankar said that the present time is highly complicated; however, as strong partners, both countries are capable of holding frank and positive discussions.

Editorial Perspective

As the United States has proved itself to be an untrustworthy nation, it has become clear to India and the Indian people that none of its statements can be relied upon. Therefore, no matter how many such statements it makes, their importance remains nil.
