Maharashtra to become a ‘Data Centre Hub’ in the coming years: CM Fadnavis

Mumbai – In accordance with the agreements signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, land allocation, approvals, and administrative procedures related to projects concerning industrial development, infrastructure, education, data centres, smart cities, and sustainable development in the State should be completed within a fixed time frame. In connection with the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed by the State, 10 senior officials from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, the Directorate of Industries, and the Mantralaya will each be assigned responsibility for ensuring that 10 projects are completed on time. Maharashtra will become a ‘Data Centre Hub’ in the coming years, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Chief Minister was speaking at Sahyadri Guest House while reviewing the implementation of the Memoranda of Understanding signed during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Chief Minister said, “Navi Mumbai is emerging as the major data centre hub in the State. Large projects are underway in Mahape and surrounding areas. Planning is in progress to develop Khalapur as the third important data centre cluster. Emphasis is also being placed on strengthening infrastructure in the Panvel region.”
