A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking excavation at the Bhojshala and the removal of Islamic symbols from the complex.

Demand also made to abolish the entry fee

New Delhi – After the Madhya Pradesh High Court ruled that Bhojshala is originally the Shri Vagdevi Temple of Hindus, a petition has now been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the removal of all Islamic symbols from the complex. The petition states that this would help restore the historical structure to its original form. The petitioners have also urged that the Archaeological Survey of India carry out a scientific excavation of the entire premises, and that the entry fee currently being charged at the site be abolished. According to the petition, such an excavation would help establish the true history and original architectural structure of Bhojshala.
