BJP MLA Karnail Singh and his supporters demolish construction of an illegal Madarasa in Delhi

New Delhi – Hindu organisations staged a protest outside the unauthorised Noor e Ilahi Mosque located near the Ramlila Ground in the Pitampura area of Delhi and demolished the walls of an illegal madarasa being constructed there. This action was carried out under the leadership of BJP MLA Karnail Singh.

MLA Singh claimed on this occasion that the mosque had been constructed on land belonging to the Delhi Development Authority and that a court had ordered its demolition. A madarasa was also being constructed adjacent to the mosque on the same land. Singh had earlier opposed this construction. Now, as the construction work began, he went there with his supporters and demolished it. Singh himself was seen holding a hammer.

“No encroachment on government land will be tolerated. This construction is illegal, and no kind of unlawful activity will be allowed on the Authority’s land,” Singh said.

Editorial Perspective

How did this illegal construction take place in the first place? Such incidents should not occur when a BJP government is in power in the State, and if they do occur, the administration should immediately demolish them. Why should MLAs themselves be required to take such action?
